Adorn

A bride is getting ready for her wedding. She wears a white silk dress, places a delicate crown of fresh flowers on her head, and puts on pearl earrings that once belonged to her grandmother. She does not simply dress; she adds beautiful things that make her look even more special. Every piece she wears adds grace and meaning. What is the bride doing to herself? She is adorning herself.

Adorn means to add something beautiful or decorative to a person or thing. Grace, by contrast, means to make something more attractive by simply being present, without adding anything extra. So, adorn focuses on actively adding ornaments or decoration. Grace focuses on the natural elegance of what is already there. In other words, you adorn a wall with paintings; you grace a room by walking into it.
