Range
To Arrange · BOOK OF ORDER & HARMONY
Definition
Range means to arrange in a line or in a particular order, often side by side. It is commonly used for things that stretch out (mountains, books on a shelf, soldiers in a row). Unlike array (which emphasises impressive display), range emphasises linear extension and often a continuous sweep.
Examples in context
- The books were ranged on the shelf according to height.
- Mountains range along the eastern border of the country.
